Preliminary South Africa Squad For The ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

Graeme Smith’s army will look to achieve something they have so often fallen sort of. With all the talent that they have in store, the Proteas will look to win a World Cup. They have never progressed more than the semi final stage, will this team re-write history? They have been playing exceptionally well as a unit in all formats o the game. Will this be the year where South Africa will emerge the winners? We will have to wait and watch.

South Africa preliminary squad is as follows.
Graeme Smith, Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, Alviro Petersen, Loots Bosman, Jacques Rudolph, Morne Van Wyk, Jonathan Vandiar, JP Duminy, David Miller, Colin Ingram, Albie Morkel, Robin Peterson, Mark Boucher, Thami Tsolekile, Faf du Plessis, Dean Elgar, Heino Kuhn, Morne Morkel, Dale Steyn, Wayne Parnell, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Johan Botha, Ryan McLaren, Charl Langeveldt, Rusty Theron, Ethy Mbhalati, Roelof van der Merwe and Johannes .

Their batting will be powered by Captain Graeme Smith; his experience will play a vital role if this team wants to win this coveted tournament. He will rely on the likes of veterans Jacques Kallis, Mark Boucher, Dale Steyn, and Johan Botha to help him. Hashim Amla has been weaving magic with his willow, scoring plenty runs in the last 2 years, He along with Kallis are the backbone of their middle order. AB De Villers, JP Duminy add the essence of youth. Their bowling has a nice mix of pace, medium pace and spin bowling. Dale Steyn is at his supreme best, torturing batsmen all over the world with his menacing speed. Likes of Charl Langeveldt, left arm seamer Wayne Parnell, hard working left armer Lonwabo Tsosobe add firepower to this South African bowling attack.

Jacques Rudolph is another batsman who will wish to make it to the main squad. Morne van Wyk has given explosive performance in recent past in short over’s format, and so has youngster batsman David miller the selectors will have an eye out for him. The deadly duo of Morkel brothers will be a pair to watch for. Albie is a superb all rounder and Morne is a tall pacer. Colin Ingram, Batsmen Robin Peterson and Loots Bosman, Dean Elgar, Heino Kuhn. The selectors will be in a fix to choose the best all rounder to suit sub-continent conditions. Ryan McLaren, Jacques Kallis, Albie Morkel are the big names in this section. Roelof van der Merwe is a left arm spinner who has shown a lot of promise along with pacer Ethy Mbhlalati being included in the tentative list of players.
